Six months ago, Emmanuel Macron had received the youtubers McFly and Carlito at the Elysee Palace for a competition of anecdotes.

At the time, he promised to show a photo of the two men during a speech.

He finally kept his word in a video posted on his twitter account at the start of the school year.

Bet almost held. In May, Emmanuel Macron had received at the Elysee the two star youtubers McFly and Carlito after the latter took up a challenge from the president by collecting 10 million views with a video to defend the barrier gestures. During this program, which took the form of an anecdote competition, the Head of State in turn undertook to show a portrait of the duo on his desk during a future speech. A promise he had ultimately not honored. In July, his entourage evoked the health context, France being then plunged into a new wave of the coronavirus epidemic, to justify this decision. But in a video posted Thursday on his twitter account to mark the start of the school year,Emmanuel Macron finally exhibited a snapshot of the two YouTubers.

He wishes the students good luck for the start of the school year.

The Head of State thus briefly showed a portrait of McFly and Carlito to call on young people to be vaccinated and to respect barrier gestures.

"Faced with the virus that is circulating, I remind you, there are barrier gestures, the famous song of our friends McFly and Carlito, and we must continue to be careful," he said.

In the video, Emmanuel Macron affirms that the government is "doing the maximum to make this return to school as normal as possible" despite the Covid-19 pandemic, welcoming "the exceptional mobilization" of teachers and parents of students.

And is aimed at students who feel "a little anguish on the morning of the start of the school year".

"I hope that this anxiety will be dispelled tonight. Good luck," he concludes.

Have a good start!

In this same video, Emmanuel Macron declares to have "a special thought" for Samuel Paty, the teacher who was beheaded in October 2020 after showing caricatures of Muhammad to his students. "I have a special thought for the parents and colleagues of Samuel Paty," he says.
