The children find their way back to school this Thursday.

A return to school which, like every year, requires new equipment and generates a significant cost for families.

This is the reason why associations are organizing themselves so that the most disadvantaged have access to school supplies.

REPORTING

Nearly 12.3 million students are back to school this Thursday in France.

And every new year also means new school supplies.

A significant financial investment for families, who cannot always ensure these purchases for their children.

This is why associations decide to come to their aid, as is the case in Nice.

"Small basic kits"

The supplies have been carefully sorted. In one corner, books, in the other, notebooks and pencils. Behind a table, volunteers are busy serving the families who come along. “What grade are you in?” Asks one of them. "In CP", answers a child. "We do a solidarity fundraising. People brought their own used supplies, others made donations so that we could buy new supplies as cheaply as possible and we put together small basic kits", explains David. Nakache, from the All citizens collective.

In this kit precisely, a small bag, a notebook as well as pens and pencils of all colors.

"For middle and high school students, we also have a few calculators and a few dictionaries. Last year, we helped more than 460 children. We will see this year and we will adapt according to demand," continues the volunteer. .

Rouel is getting ready to go back to fifth grade and his eyes are shining. "I took a black bag, it's beautiful I'm happy. I have things, markers, pencils and a pencil case", rejoices the little boy. As is Rachida, mother of three children. "It helps families, especially large families. Even if we have help from the CAF, between sneakers, joggers, the canteen or even the bus card, it is too expensive," she explains. And in addition to school supplies, masks were also distributed to families. A big budget too.
