The panels of the external cladding of the Torre dei Moro in via Antonini, the 18-storey skyscraper that last Sunday was set on fire by transforming itself into an incandescent torch, are made of highly flammable synthetic plastic material that melts at high temperatures.

This is a detail that emerges from the first laboratory analyzes conducted by the Fire-fighting Investigative Unit ordered by the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office which opened a file for culpable disaster According to the investigations carried out so far, that material, the exact qualification of which has not yet been defined in when some technical documents are missing, he would have acted as a 'conductor' making the stake uncontrollable in seven minutes. And that it melted is shown by the 'puddles' that formed at the foot of the building when it caught fire, fortunately without causing victims.

The investigation coordinated by the deputy prosecutor Tiziana Siciliana and Marina Petruzzella, who is reconstructing the dynamics of the fire with particular regard to the safety aspect, among the various chapters, not only aims to establish the exact composition of the panels but also if these correspond to what is declared in the building dossier presented to the Municipality.

The investigations, therefore, even if at the moment they have not yet ascertained what was the actual cause of the fire that developed in an apartment on the 15th floor and whose owner has not yet been traced, have however confirmed that the external cladding sail shape probably had aesthetic purposes, it was not fireproof.

Furthermore, no evidence emerged that it was from Alucobond.

With this premise now, in addition to shedding light on the alleged flaws in the fire protection system which we know was tested and certified in 2010, the investigation aims to ascertain whether the panels were up to standard since not only have they melted but some pieces they became embers and flew scattering fires on different floors of the skyscraper. While investigators and investigators are also working on the collected papers - such as the building practice filed in the Municipality and the building's fire-prevention file - today the recovery of the personal objects of the tenants who lost their home in a few minutes continued.
