The Center Party member and former Riksdag politician Håkan Larsson on Rödön in Krokom municipality has been involved in the issue of financial compensation to the power-producing municipalities in Sweden for a long time.

Today he is active in the Association of Sweden's Hydropower and Wind Power Municipalities and Regions (FSV) and would like to see Sweden follow the Norwegian system.

- I have long been impressed by Norway and their model that some of the money from power production stays in the municipalities.

It has contributed to local development and there we have a lot to learn from Norway.

A similar system would be introduced fairly quickly in Sweden as well, as long as we get a political majority.

Despite all the proposals that have been put forward in Sweden over the years on similar systems as in Norway, nothing has happened.

Håkan Larsson believes, however, that interest in the issue has increased in recent times, and from more parties.

- Today there is priority from almost all parliamentary parties in FSV and we work hard on the issue, so I am actually more hopeful than in a long time.

In the clip above, you can hear more about how Håkan Larsson views the Norwegian model, and how he views the issue for the Swedish part.
