The legendary pop group Abba has announced a new album almost 40 years after the band split up.

The new album by Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad will be titled "Voyage", as the band announced on Thursday.

“First we did one song, then several.

Then we said: why don't we make a whole album? ”Said Björn at an event in London.

Fans should also be able to see the quartet, which celebrated worldwide success until 1982 with hits like "Waterloo", "Dancing Queen" and "Mamma Mia", on stage again soon in London.

Albeit virtual: so that digital images, "Abbatars", can give concerts, the four singers sang every song for five weeks in front of 160 cameras so that every movement can be recorded.

"The only big problem was that we had to shave our beards," said Björn.

At first, the band did not officially announce when the gigs would start.

The band had previously announced a "historic livestream" on Twitter, which had caused much speculation.

At the same time, press conferences were held in Stockholm, Berlin, London, New York, Sydney and Tokyo.

"Thanks for waiting, the journey will start shortly," it said in advance on a specially set up website. The Abba fan base actually had to be patient for a long time. The Swedes had already announced their “digital entertainment experience” in 2016, but it was then repeatedly postponed - most recently because of the corona pandemic.
