Portugal won thanks to the inevitable Cristiano Ronaldo against Ireland (2-1) on Wednesday in Faro, on the 4th day of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, while France failed to beat Bosnia and Herzegovina (1-1).

Cristiano Ronaldo had to wait until the 89th minute of the game against the Irish to equalize at 1-1, then the 96th minute to reduce the score to 2-1 and save the bet for his Seleçao.

Above all, he scored his 110th and 111th goals in the national team, making him the top scorer in history in this very specific field, with a new record, ahead of Iranian Ali Daei (109).

The Irish had just lost two games in a row, but they led 1-0 against the Portuguese for a long time, thanks to a goal from Egan (45th).

This historic double of "CR7", one more, allows the Portuguese to stay in contact with the Serbs who easily disposed of Qatar (4-0), special guest of group A.

Meanwhile in Strasbourg, in Group D, the world champions were first surprised by a tense shot from the stainless Edin Dzeko (36th), 35 years old and 115 caps, and equalized four minutes later thanks to Antoine Griezmann (40th).

Then nothing.

The expulsion of Jules Koundé, five minutes after the resumption, made the task of the Bosnians easier.

But the Blues are not doing so badly because Ukraine also had to be content with a draw (2-2) in Kazakhstan, red lantern of this group D.

Semi-finalist of the Euro in July, Denmark is still well established at the top of Group F. The arrival of Scotland, second before this match, was only a formality for the Danes (2-0) which push back the Scots to seven lengths.

Another top-of-the-table duel, in Group H, opposed Russia and Croatia, for a rematch of their quarter-final of the 2018 World Cup.

Without there being a winner (0-0), as in the other duel of the evening, in this group, between Slovakia and Slovenia (1-1).

It was a bit of a draw night as in Group G Turkey failed to beat Montenegro (2-2), while the Netherlands would draw in Oslo against Norway (1- 1) who could still count on a goal from the insatiable Erling Haaland.
