The PSOE is putting its pieces together after the movements that caused the government crisis that Pedro Sánchez executed in mid-July.
The assumption of more prominence by
Adriana Lastra
in Ferraz -the organization of the 40th congress that is held in October- and the appointment of
Ander Gil
as president of the Senate forced a replacement in the spokesmen of the Cortes Generales.
The strong man now in Congress will be the Canarian Héctor Gómez, who was even responsible for the international relations area of the Executive and spokesman for the
Foreign Affairs Commission
, as reported by RTVE.
Socialist sources explain that the appointments will not be official until Monday, when the Executive meets.
Gómez takes over from Lastra in a task that involves, among other issues, the relationship and day-to-day negotiation with the rest of the parliamentary forces.
One of the most imminent challenges is, for example, the negotiations of the
Budgets
for 2022.
The one who will be the new parliamentary spokesperson was a councilor in the Guía de Isora City Council.
In June 2015, he was elected deputy for the Tenerife constituency and second secretary of the Board of the Canary Islands Parliament, according to the biography exposed by the PSOE.
Between 2018 and 2019 he was General Director of
Turespaña
.
In 2019 he was elected deputy of the Congress of Deputies for the Tenerife constituency.
Currently, he is the spokesperson for the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Congress of Deputies.
Lastra, who is already deputy secretary general, had assumed "plenipotentiary powers" in the PSOE after the departure of
José Luis Ábalos
as Secretary of the Organization.
Together with
Santos Cerdán
, the new head of Organization, he leads the party and takes the reins of the organization of the 40th Congress of the PSOE, which is held in mid-October.
Both are called to be key people in the new Executive.
The workload made it difficult to combine both tasks.
As for the Senate, Gil was elected president of this Chamber to replace
Pilar Llop
, now Minister of Justice.
The person chosen is Eva Granados, deputy first secretary of the PSC and who had acquired prominence as spokesperson for the organizing committee of the 40th Congress of the PSOE.
