It was during Friday evening, July 30, that the police received an alarm about a shooting at the beach in Notviken and a woman in her 25s was found shot to death on the spot.

The next day, the 32-year-old was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the murder.

Prosecutor Jonas Fjellström, who himself did not participate in Wednesday's arrest hearing but had a replacement, has since the investigation began not wanted to go into exactly what the man's role should have been, but has told Norrbotten's media that he does not have to be the shooter but can have someone else role.

The 32-year-old was sentenced one month before the murder of Notviken to 2 years and 6 months in prison for, among other things, aggravated assault inside an apartment on Örnäset in Luleå.

While waiting for the verdict to have time to appeal or gain legal force, the 32-year-old was released from custody.

Connections to gang conflict

According to information to SVT Norrbotten, the murder may have connections to criminal circles in Stockholm and sources have told SVT that the police hunt has continued for at least one more person.

Already during the first arrest hearing, prosecutor Jonas Fjellström said that the investigation would be exceptionally extensive, but did not want to comment on the connections to criminal networks in the Stockholm area.

- I have read it in the newspaper, but there is nothing I want to confirm or deny, he said then.
