Recently, the municipality's opposition councilor Kim Fredriksson (SD) called Eskilstuna "a ghost town" and on Tuesday, the shop assistant Ludvig Holmberg told about the situation in mall 21 where several of the premises are empty.
But now the municipality has appointed a new service with a focus on the city center to drive development forward.
- Previously, trade was the major engine for generating visitor flows to the city centers.
It no longer has the same power, says Christina Blomberg, the municipality's new urban development strategist.
She believes that instead of traditional shopping, we must bring in other businesses where you do things, such as restaurants.
