"The goal of the alliance is to create a safe and supportive digital environment that would give children opportunities for creative and professional self-development, socialization and safe communication in the virtual space," said a statement posted on the Kremlin's website.

The owners of the largest domestic Internet platforms and video hosting sites have undertaken to independently identify and, if necessary, restrict access to illegal information and content that can harm the health and development of children.

"I thank all the companies that took part in this for such a responsible approach ... The content of the virtual space is essential for the well-being and safety of our children, and in this area they must be reliably protected," Putin said in an online broadcast from the ceremony of signing voluntary commitments by the founding companies of the Russian Alliance, which was led by RT.

Earlier it was reported that as part of the project "Digital educational environment" for 2019-2020, the authorities have equipped schools in the Moscow region with high-speed Internet.
