Textilia in Rimbo has been supplying laundry and textile services to the Stockholm region for more than fifty years.

But now the agreement that expires at the turn of the year is out for procurement.

- We have done everything in our power to submit a competitive tender and we naturally hope to win the agreement, says Textilia's CEO Fredrik Lagerkvist.

It was incredibly difficult to have to inform the staff that we were giving half notice of termination, says Textilia's CEO Fredrik Lagerkvist.

Critical to the Region

Fredrik Lagerkvist directs some criticism at the Stockholm Region, which has been late in asking for information on the tender procedure.

- I wish we had received an answer a little earlier from the Stockholm Region.

Had we received it, we could have avoided notifying the staff, he says.

Hard blow for the municipality

Region Stockholm is the laundry in Rimbo's largest customer and accounts for 70 percent of the business.

The laundry is Norrtälje municipality's fourth largest private employer and should the notice lead to the redundancies, it risks hitting the municipality hard as important jobs disappear.

- It is a concern among colleagues. Dismissals risk becoming very tough for the individual. Many couples work here and several families risk being hit hard if both lose their jobs, says Mikael Herrgård club chairman of IF Metall at Textilia.
