The Var gendarmes posted a call for witnesses on their Facebook account to find the owners of stolen jewelry between August 17 and 23.

The thefts took place in Languedoc-Roussillon, Rhône-Alpes and Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur.

The thugs had implemented a very particular technique to attack their victims, as relayed by France 3 Paca: they sprinkled them with a greenish liquid resembling bird droppings.

A ruse to deceive tourists

“The criminals spotted their victims beforehand, sprayed them with a bottle or a projectile.

Once their target was hit, they offered their help to remove the stain, and stole them, ”said the Saint-Tropez gendarmerie, which led the investigation.

The suspects, who were acting without violence, were arrested and luxury jewelry and watches recovered by the military.

The Gassin Saint-Tropez brigade therefore calls on the victims, mostly tourists, to come forward on 04.94.97.95.32.

On the other hand, it will be necessary to prove the origin of the good to the gendarmes in order to be able to recover it.
