Cristiano Ronaldo passed Iranian Ali Daei to set a new world record for national team goals by scoring his 110th goal in 180 appearances for Portugal, the equalizer against Ireland in the 89th (1-1) on Wednesday in Faro (south) in qualifying for the 2022 World Cup.

The 36-year-old five-time Golden Ball, who missed the opportunity to open the scoring from the penalty spot at the start of the game, shared this record with Ali Daei, scorer of 109 goals in 149 games between 1992 and 2006, since the double signed against France at Euro-2020 last June.
