“Of course, part of education remains in Russian, but as I said earlier, it’s in the interests of people to learn Estonian and start from an early age, that is, from kindergarten, where children learn Estonian, not teach”, - said Karis in an interview with the Delfi portal.
According to him, it is necessary to find a solution so that the children are interested in learning Estonian.
He noted that it is important for him that Estonian citizens speak Estonian.
“The solution is not so simple that tomorrow we just start learning in Estonian.
The whole class is in Russian, the teachers have not yet been trained to teach in Estonian.
It doesn't work that way.
And I think that the level of education in this case will also fall.
This is not an easy task, ”the president said.
