The last “Specialized Expo” took place in Kazakhstan four years ago. The next event of this kind can host Buenos Aires. In 2023 it will be about the creative industry in the digital age. This view does not tear anyone from their chair. Because format and meaning differ considerably from the generally known world exhibition, which takes place every five years. It can last up to six months and regularly attracts many millions of people from all over the world, such as in 2000 in Hanover. The “Specialized Expo”, on the other hand, is limited to a maximum of three months and a specific topic and is at the same time a light version of the famous original. It has taken place twice in Germany so far. 1957 Berlin hosted the "Interbau",Just eight years later, Munich hosted an international transport exhibition.

One feels reminded of the international building exhibition that has been propagated for decades, which has been proposed again and again as a source of inspiration for the Rhine-Main area.

Because it has been an integral part of the programmatic list of demands of the Hessian Social Democrats for some time, it could not suddenly appear in the coalition agreement of the competitors of the CDU and the Greens after the ineradicable party-political practices.

The coalitionists found the idea from the Frankfurt / Rhein-Main Strategy Forum to be more elegant and original.

There, under the leadership of the head of the Wiesbaden State Chancellery, Axel Wintermeyer (CDU), the representatives of the states of Hesse, Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate come together.

In the spirit the union sits at the table

But in the case of the “Specialized Expo”, the federal government always sits at the table in the spirit.

Because only he can submit an application, and he also finances a large part of the project.

In this respect, the “Specialized Expo” is comparable to the format of the Hessentag.

By far the largest part of the necessary investments is not made by the organizer, who will benefit directly from them, but by the higher level.

Against this background, nothing spoke against the plan of the black-green coalition, even if the motto “Smart region - smart people” was very vague.

This point indicates the difficulty in terms of content, which is to develop concepts for an exhibition, which will take more than a decade to pass.

What seems progressive today can be old hat by then.
