According to official statistics, Turkey's exports abroad exceeded 121 billion dollars during the first 7 months of this year, while the country is looking to reach 210 billion dollars by the end of this year.

A statement by the Turkish Statistics Authority said today, Tuesday, that Turkey's exports during the period from January to July 2021 increased by nearly 35%, compared to the same period last year, to reach 121 billion and 325 million dollars.

On a monthly basis, Turkey's exports increased by 10.2% last July, compared to the same month last year, to reach 16 billion and 415 million dollars.

The statement added that Turkey's imports in the same month also increased by 16.8 percent, compared to July of last year, to reach $20 billion and 693 million.

According to the statement, the foreign trade deficit in the mentioned month amounted to 4 billion and 278 million dollars, but the deficit shrank in the first seven months of the year by 4.7 percent to 26.72 billion dollars.

The expected deficit in the month of July came less than analysts' expectations.

Turkish Vice President Fuad Oktay said about a week ago that his country's goal is to reach the threshold of 210 billion dollars in the export sector by the end of this year 2021.

Oktay said in this regard, "There are strong indications that our exports will reach more than 200 billion dollars by the end of the year, and our goal is to reach 210 billion dollars."
