The assertion that there will be no more lockdown in the name of freedom is not worth too much if day-care centers, schools and universities still have to pretend that freedom comes second.

The fact that there are still universities that are doubting face-to-face teaching for the winter semester is a poor testimony.

Students and professors should have been vaccinated long ago.

The university management could orientate themselves on it.

Why don't they

The same question must be asked in schools and ministries of education. Teachers would have to be vaccinated (and in most cases they are), students have the opportunity to do so. For all of them in the middle and upper grades there is now even a vaccination recommendation from the STIKO.

The sad truth is that what the vast majority of the population wished for last year and what politicians had promised as a way out of the pandemic did not occur: herd immunization through vaccination. There are still groups for which this cannot apply, for example students under the age of twelve, and until recently also those under the age of 18. They could not or were not (yet) to be vaccinated, also because it is not necessary given the low risk. Most students are now faced with the choice, as if Corona had only existed since yesterday: contamination or vaccination?

The answer is clear: Vaccinations must be enforced in schools instead of taking refuge in air filters or special quarantine permits.

Air filters are, that was lost in the endless debate, cumbersome stopgap solutions;

in the meantime they have become a symbol of not a slow, but a stray corona policy.

This policy is increasingly looking, because the vaccination rate is stagnating, through the eyes of the unvaccinated, whether in schools or elsewhere.

This is a reversal of the goals set last year.

If all those involved were vaccinated in the name of freedom, the lockdown would no longer have to be discussed.
