- Traffic is one of the areas that accounts for the most emissions, so that system needs to be changed.

The region's and municipalities' vehicles drive very many of the kilometers driven in Örebro County every day, so their work is incredibly important, she says.

Right now, new money can be applied for from Klimatklivet and another round is open during the autumn.

Åsa Ödman urges to think a little "outside the box".

- As in many other issues, it is about thinking.

If you decide what you want to do, there are often solutions, but if you think "that never works" - then it never works, she states.

Some trips must be exchanged for a bicycle

By 2030, Sweden must have a fossil-independent vehicle fleet and carbon dioxide emissions must have decreased by 70 percent compared with 2010, according to the government's target.

- We will need a mixture of fuels;

electricity, hydrogen, hvo to diesel, but we also need to make energy efficiency improvements and some trips need to be replaced with walking and cycling, says Åsa Ödman.

Few municipally owned electric cars

Örebro municipality has invested entirely in biogas and does not own a single electric car, according to a survey conducted by SVT Örebro.

Overall, there are few municipally owned electric vehicles in our area.

Åsa Ödman says that investments in electric cars are important for the climate and can be a saving for the municipalities' finances, but understands that it can be difficult to have knowledge of everything and set the right requirements in procurements.

But, help is available, she states:

- The Fossil-Free 2030 project is a network between several county administrative boards, regions and municipalities.

There are collaborations around procurement and vehicle managers, so that you can make this change in a good way, without your own municipality needing to know exactly everything.
