A septuagenarian was found safe and sound on Saturday after having disappeared from the nursing home in Châteauneuf-sur-Loire (Loiret).

He had been wanted by the gendarmes the day before and therefore spent the night outside.

According to La République du Center, the man had been the victim of a fall during a walk along the Loire.

The dog spots recent traces of the pensioner

And it was thanks to the flair of a German shepherd from the dog squad that the retiree was able to be located on a steep and difficult to access slope.

As France Bleu specifies, the soldiers were able to find the lost resident because the dog Phantom had succeeded in distinguishing between the usual traces of the septuagenarian who often walks in the surroundings and those of his fall.

The victim was also in an area not visible to the naked eye.

The resident of the retirement home was taken care of by the firefighters.

He was not injured but very tired.

According to his testimony, he would have been seized with discomfort before falling, without being able to extricate himself from this bad situation.
