The young French international midfielder Eduardo Camavinga (18) is leaving Rennes to join Real Madrid until 2027, the two clubs announced Tuesday evening, a few hours before the end of the summer transfer window.

While Real have been trying to attract Kylian Mbappé for a week, another French prodigy is joining the Spanish capital.

Camavinga has reached a milestone in his career by signing for the club to the 13 Champions Leagues.

Tracked by Zinédine Zidane, who had already tried to attract him last summer, Camavinga will embody the renewal of Real Madrid under Carlo Ancelotti, with the iconic midfielder Toni Kroos - Luka Modric - Casemiro and under the aegis of his compatriots Ferland Mendy and Karim Benzema.

According to the press, Real Madrid paid 31 M EUR + 9 M EUR in bonus to enlist the young midfielder, currently with the France Espoirs team of Sylvain Ripoll.

This makes him one of the most expensive transfers in the history of Stade Rennes, with those from Ousmane Dembélé to Dortmund in 2016 (EUR 35m) and Ismaïla Sarr to Watford in 2019 (between 30 and EUR 38m with bonus).

"Already a slight nostalgia, that of no longer seeing the local child roaming the banks of the Vilaine but a great pride. That of seeing him join one of the most prestigious clubs in the world," Rennes wrote in its press release , after sharing a farewell video on social media, titled "From Roazhon Park to the Bernabeu, good road Eduardo Camavinga".
