August 31, 2021 The electricity in the top floor apartment was off. To tell the investigators, in the investigation coordinated by the adjunct Tiziana Siciliano, the keeper of the skyscraper who 5 days before the fire, had gone to water the plants. The man explained that when he entered he tried to turn on the light but it had been disconnected, most likely from the main meter. Probably the owner did it before leaving for the holidays. An element, the one put in the minutes, that raises new questions about the point from where the fire broke out. The hypothesis could remain standing that in the apartment there was a short circuit or a malfunction of a system connected to the electric current, perhaps because the owner may have disconnected the light from the meter, excluding, from the block, some appliances, such as the refrigerator. There remain hypotheses of self-ignition of batteries or other. Hypotheses that must all be verified.

The first flames

Another point at the center of the investigation, now also coordinated by the public prosecutor Marina Petruzzella of the department led by the Sicilian adjunct, is to understand if the first flames and the smoke, which can be seen coming out in an amateur video from the balcony of that one. apartment, originated from that apartment.

The maintenance records

The prosecutors also took the records of the maintenance and overhaul activities on the Torre Dei Moro. They were tracked down by the Fire Brigade and acquired in the investigation of the Mlano prosecutor's office. The investigation also focuses on the gaps in the building's security, including the material used to make the panels of the external cladding that caught fire, according to the investigators, "like cardboard". Among other things, it would be Alucobond, the same material, according to the prosecutors, used for the London Grenfell Tower which burned down in 2017 with 72 deaths.

Negligent disaster investigation against unknown persons

The investigation, which is in the phase of acquiring papers, was opened at the moment due to a culpable disaster involving unknown persons. It is likely that later the investigators will also acquire documents from the Moro Real Estate of the real estate developer Alberto Moro, the company that incorporated the one that built the skyscraper.

The Fire Brigade Police report

Today a new inspection by the fire brigade investigators entered the apartment again., While the first police report arrived at the prosecutor's office, which immediately intervened that afternoon: some officers took people out going up to the eighth floor. Their intervention is summarized in the report delivered to the investigators. Two fire brigade teams still remain on site and they will remain there for days to secure what remains of the skyscraper in via Antonini. From the provincial command of Milan it is explained that there are still some apartments to be inspected and until these operations are completed, it will not be possible to access. Through the reconnaissance of a drone, among other things, the Fire Brigade verified that some apartments and some balconies were partially saved from the fire. The garages, then, remained intact and the cars inside were recovered.

The condominiums

"We want to talk to the mayor". This is the request of the condominiums of the Torre Dei Moro in Via Antoninicirac 70 families. This morning the 70 families gathered in a gym rented for the occasion for an extraordinary assembly. "We have composed a commission of experts, in which I will take care of the communication - explains Mirko Berti, one of the tenants - to face the many problems we have". "Emergency management is fine, but we need a dialogue with the municipal administration". "We are facing all the expenses and we need everything, from a roof over our heads to clothes and PCs to work because - he stresses - we lost everything ”
