This was stated in the Uzbek Foreign Ministry after some agencies and websites disseminated information that the republic was allegedly ready to "open its borders" for refugees from Afghanistan.

“In order to ensure security, the Uzbek-Afghan border is currently completely closed and the ground crossing through the Termez checkpoint is not carried out,” the Foreign Ministry said.

At the same time, the presence in Uzbekistan of Afghans awaiting transit is strictly limited in time, the department added.

Earlier, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that his country would help Afghanistan with food.
