  Later, Mackenzie added that the United States will continue to carry out diplomatic evacuation missions.

He said, “Although the troop withdrawal has been completed, the diplomatic mission of ensuring more American citizens and eligible Afghans who want to leave is still continuing.”

  U.S. President Biden announced in April that the U.S. troops stationed in Afghanistan will begin to withdraw on May 1 and will withdraw completely before September 11.

In July he also stated that the US military mission in Afghanistan will end on August 31.
