30 August 2021 Episodes that follow one another with increasing frequency. And that after the flood of positions taken by politicians and representatives of civil society arouse the firm reaction of the government. No tolerance towards the intolerant, is the line. The Minister of the Interior will meet in the next few days the Coordination Center for monitoring, analysis and exchange of information on the phenomenon of intimidating acts against journalists.

The convocation of Minister Lamorgese also aims to analyze the recent episodes of intolerance and violence that have affected, among others, some reporters during the protests against the anti-Covid measures taken by the Government.

Freedom to demonstrate but no violence and threats

"The Interior Ministry will ensure, as always, the freedom to demonstrate peacefully in compliance with the rules but acts of violence and threats will not be allowed - reads a note -. The commitment of the police forces who are at work every day to ensure the control of the territory, public order and investigative activities to identify who is involved in street demonstrations with acts of violence and intolerance ".

Chronicles of assaults and intimidations

Saturday evening it was the turn of our colleague from Rainews24, Antonella Alba. During the demonstration against the green pass he asked some questions and received an extremely aggressive reaction.

For them I am a "terrorist journalist" while I was just trying to go back to my house and ask a few questions, and instead they blocked the traffic for hours.

Thanks to the police, I'm still whole.

Today a journalist from Repubblica and the Gedi group, Francesco Giovannetti, was attacked and threatened with death by one of the demonstrators from the school sector, who were protesting in front of the Ministry of Education.

The man was taken by ambulance to the Fatebenefratelli hospital, on the Tiber Island, for the necessary investigations.

The attacker was instead taken to the police station, where he was identified.

These are not the first and only episodes of insulted and threatened reporters since the Covid-19 pandemic began, and it is certainly not only journalists who are targeted by no vaxes. The same fate has befallen many scientists and virologists in these 18 months, and just last night Matteo Bassetti, the San Martino infectious disease specialist, was chased and threatened by a 46-year-old man. The attacker, denounced by the police for serious threats, met him on the street and started chasing him, catching him with his mobile phone and shouting "You will kill us all with these vaccines and we will make you pay".

Solidarity comes from all over the political world

"The journalist Antonella Alba threatened, the journalist Francesco Giovannetti beaten during anti-Green Pass demonstrations. The Bassetti infectious disease specialist under threat. Full solidarity with the victims of these shameful episodes. The sleep of reason generates monsters", writes the president on Twitter. of the European Parliament, David Sassoli.

Condemnation also by the Minister for Relations with Parliament, Federico D'Inca ': "My firm condemnation of the" No greenpass "violence against journalists and total solidarity with Antonella Alba and Francesco Giovannetti, brutally attacked while they were doing their job. This violence is becoming an unacceptable constant ".

Even the president of Liguria and co-founder of Coraggio Italia, Giovanni Toti, writes on Facebook: "Solidarity with his friend Matteo Bassetti, director of the Infectious Diseases Clinic of the San Martino Hospital in Genoa, who once again was the victim of insults and threats. It is absurd that a doctor who has been at the forefront of the fight against the virus for almost two years is subject to similar attacks. service of your patients and the Ligurians ".
