When the police raided the man's premises in Löberöd in 2018, there were 760 lizards, 67 turtles, 18 snakes, eleven frogs and two dwarf crocodiles.

The man, who is in his 40s, is convicted of a serious species protection violation, violation of the Animal Welfare Act, smuggling and animal cruelty.

The man has made large sums of money from the pet shops but has nevertheless lived on social benefits.

Many of the animals were in such poor condition when they were found that they had to be killed.

Those who survived have been placed in zoos.
