In addition to the

Israel

,

Lebanon

,

Montenegro

,

Kosovo

and

North Macedonia

are no longer on the list

. The written procedure for updating the list was initiated last Friday by the Slovenian presidency of the EU Council and the decision was taken this afternoon.

In recent days, the European Commission said that it "is following the issue of travel by EU citizens to the United States and vice versa very closely" due to the Covid situation. The European Union in the summer months had lifted the bans for the Americans while Washington had maintained the closure.

The

Commissioner for Internal Affairs of the EU

,

Ylva Johansson

, on her trip to the US spoke of this lack of reciprocity with the

Secretary of State for Security

,

Alejandro Mayorkas

. This was explained by a spokesman for the European Commission in response to a question.

Albania, Armenia, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Japan, Jordan, New Zealand, Qatar, Republic of Moldova, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Singapore, Korea remain in the "white list" of the EU Covid accepted. of the South, Ukraine and China.

With this decision we want to standardize the travel rules in the European Union but the individual states of the European Union remain free to decide their own border policies.
