The head of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Parliament, Vahid Jalalzadeh, confirmed that the new Iranian government does not oppose negotiations on the nuclear file, and will participate in them based on the country's interests.

Jalalzadeh expressed his belief that the framework followed during the nuclear negotiations in Vienna had not led to a result so far, and added that if the framework changed, Tehran could obtain its demands, and it would push Western countries to abide by their promises in the agreement, as he put it.

Regarding the possibility of changing the Iranian negotiating team in the nuclear talks in Vienna, Jalalzadeh stressed that the Foreign Ministry must first decide whether to continue the negotiation process or whether the National Security Council will take responsibility again.

rude behavior

Earlier yesterday, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei accused the United States of "rudely dealing" with the nuclear agreement and overstepping the boundaries, while US President Joe Biden threatened other options other than diplomacy regarding Iran's nuclear file.

In statements during a meeting with President Ebrahim Raisi and members of his government, Khamenei said that Washington withdrew in 2018 from the nuclear agreement concluded in 2015 between Tehran and the major international powers, and "treats as if Iran withdrew from it."

The Iranian guide stressed that the issue of the Iranian nuclear file must be resolved in an appropriate manner befitting the country, and added that the Biden administration is no different from the administration of former President Donald Trump, as it adopts the same demands regarding the nuclear file.

At the same time, the Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani, condemned - yesterday, Saturday - the US President's statements in which he threatened other options if the diplomatic option failed to settle the Iranian nuclear file.

"Confirming the use of other options (against Iran) amounts to threatening another country illegally, and proves Iran's right to reciprocate against the available options," Shamkhani wrote on Twitter.

Not the only option

In statements during his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett on Friday at the White House, Biden said that the option of diplomacy is not the only option before his administration to deal with Iran's nuclear program.

He added that his administration will resort to other options if diplomacy fails, while White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said that pursuing the diplomatic path with Iran remains Washington's preferred option.

And the White House said - in a statement - that Biden and Bennett, in their meeting, reviewed the steps aimed at deterring and containing what he described as Iran's dangerous behavior in the region.

For his part, the Israeli Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction with what the US President said regarding the Iranian file, and pointed out that Biden had clearly said that Iran would not be able to obtain nuclear weapons.

Bennett also said that Israel must be the strongest in the region to be able to confront those who want to eliminate it, as he put it, and hinted that it will continue its covert attacks on the Iranian nuclear program.
