The New York Times quoted sources as saying that officials from Turkey, Qatar and the Group of Seven major countries plan to hold a meeting on Monday to discuss the future of Afghanistan, including the management of Kabul Airport.

Meanwhile, the "Washington Post" (Washington post) quoted US officials that President Joe Biden intends to withdraw the US ambassador and all diplomatic staff from the embassy in Kabul by next Tuesday.

Officials said the Biden administration's decision on whether or not to recognize the Taliban government could take some time.

They made it clear that the issue of recognizing the Taliban might contribute to the possible return of US diplomats to Afghanistan.

The Washington Post also quoted US officials that Washington is engaged in talks about the future management of Kabul Airport, and that these talks include the private sector and regional partners such as Turkey, in addition to the Taliban.

On the same subject, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, in a telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Hulusi Akar, confirmed the continuation of communication between the two countries for future arrangements related to Kabul Airport.

Austin, in his tweet on Twitter, expressed his country's gratitude for the important and long-term Turkish role in supporting the mission at Kabul Airport.

The US Secretary of Defense valued the permanent defense relations with Turkey, which were reflected in the strong cooperation between the two countries in Afghanistan.

For his part, an official in the Afghan Taliban movement told Reuters on Sunday that the movement that took power in Afghanistan and the US forces withdrawing from the country aim to hand over Kabul airport quickly.

"We are waiting for the last signal from the Americans, after which we will take full control of the Kabul airport," said the official, who asked not to be named.

He added that the movement that took control of the capital Kabul on August 15 after a lightning advance has a team ready to manage the airport, including technical experts and qualified engineers.
