The Taliban will announce the formation of a government cabinet within a week or two, Reuters reported.

Officials who will run key government agencies, including the Ministry of Public Health, the Ministry of Education and the central bank, have already been appointed, Zabihula Mujahid told Reuters.

He initially said "a cabinet will be announced next week," but later corrected in a voicemail that the new cabinet would be completed in a week or two, Reuters explained. The decline in value is a temporary phenomenon.

As the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, the currency depreciated, food prices skyrocketed, and banks in the capital Kabul were closed.

The Taliban said it had ordered the reopening of banks, but limited the withdrawal amount per person to $200 per week, or about 230,000 won.

"It is a matter for the leadership to decide and we cannot predict how it will be decided," Mujahid said.

It is unclear whether the government formed by the Taliban will be recognized by the international community.

Meanwhile, the Taliban countered that the U.S. launched a retaliatory air strike on the Islamic State Khorasan (IS-K), which was blamed for the bombings at the Kabul Airport, as "obviously an attack on Afghan territory."
