The exit of a river from its natural course in Sudan .. and 4 centimeters separated from the flood

Today, Saturday, Sudan announced that the Dinder River has left its natural course, as it recorded 12.96 meters at the measurement station of the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources in Dinder, compared to the level of the same day last year, which recorded 10 meters.

The authorities in Sudan said that the floods of 2006, 2016 and 2017 came after the level reached 13 metres, which means that 4 centimeters separates the Dinder River from entering the potential flood stage.

The Sudanese News Agency (SUNA) pointed to the strength of the water current and its rapid and record flow, stressing that there are fears that the flood will sweep away the agricultural areas of traditional agriculture adjacent to the river in low areas, in addition to the areas planted with vegetables and fruits.

The agency stated that the Blue Nile is witnessing stability and stability in its levels at the city of Singa, where it maintained yesterday's level, which reached 16.35 meters.

Work is currently underway to restore the Khor El Mallawiya bridge south of Wad El Nil, to facilitate the flow of traffic on Sennar Damazin Road.

Sudan is preparing for a peak in the flooding of the Nile River, expected during the month of September, by operating dams as buffers for floods and continuing to call on citizens on the banks to take precautions.

The peak of the Nile flood occurs in mid-August each year, but in recent years the Nile recorded the highest levels during September, as happened in the floods of last year.

A government official told the Sudan Tribune newspaper that the authorities' precaution for floods will continue until next month in order to avoid any flash floods, as the Ethiopian plateau is still recording high levels of precipitation.

He added that, depending on the levels of the Nile flood and rainfall rates, the authorities in Sudan could postpone the start of the school year, which is scheduled for the sixth of next September in the state of Khartoum.
