The Taliban have reacted to US retaliatory airstrikes against the extremist group ISIS blamed for the Kabul airport attack.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said on the 28th local time that the drone strike against the Afghan branch of IS, the Khorasan (IS-K) group, was "an obvious attack on Afghan territory."

He added that he expects the Taliban will soon take full control of Kabul airport if the US forces leave, and that he will announce the formation of a cabinet within a few days.

It is difficult to predict whether women will be included in the cabinet, he added, adding that the final decision on the matter will be made by the supreme leader.

Officials have already been appointed to run key government agencies, including the Ministry of Public Health, the Ministry of Education and the Central Bank, he said.
