In protest against the Corona measures, a few thousand demonstrators gathered in Berlin on Saturday.

After several bans on individual gatherings, a large number of them initially walked aimlessly through the streets, according to reporters from the German Press Agency.

By early evening, the protests had resulted in more than 50 preliminary arrests.

The police accompanied the individual trains and, according to their own statements, repeatedly pulled ringleaders out of the groups.

There were some attacks on emergency services and one policeman was injured.

In the Prenzlauer Berg district, the demonstrators tried again and again to join a "train of love" to which around 10,000 people were expected to hear house and techno music.

The police prevented this with barriers.

According to media reports, the "train of love" was ended prematurely due to violations of the corona restrictions.

According to the police, demonstrators tried to break through a barrier at the Lessing Bridge between Tiergarten and Moabit.

The police prevented this and also used irritant gas.

Police helicopters were used to observe the confusing scenery, and large parts of the government district were cordoned off.

The Berlin police had prepared for larger operations despite the demonstration bans. Around 2000 police officers said they were ready on Saturday, including support from Baden-Württemberg, Lower Saxony, Bavaria and Saxony.
