In the DRC, the battle for the presidency of the Independent National Electoral Commission worries civil society.

Many associations put the National Assembly on notice.

In a statement released yesterday Friday, 116 organizations posing as "social forces" demand the convening of a plenary session of the National Assembly within 72 hours of Monday.

This plenary should examine the conclusions of the parliamentary committee and endorse the appointment of the fifteen members of the Ceni.

The "social forces" believe that the process for setting up the Ceni office has dragged on too long, and that this delay risks disrupting the electoral calendar.

However, explains the press release published by these “social forces”, the various components involved in this process have already submitted the lists of their respective members and a joint committee has been set up within the National Assembly to examine these candidatures.

And the Catholics?

The text does not, however, evoke the position of Catholics and the Church of Christ in the Congo, who are asking for arbitration by the Head of State in the appointment of the president of the Ceni, nor the fact that the opposition FCC and Lamuka are waiting, for their part, for the release of this question to possibly submit their lists of candidates.

For organizations that present themselves as the "social forces" of the DRC, the actions they are considering are intended to block the road "

to the plot of dialogue and slippage

".

An implication that would aim to postpone the elections scheduled for 2023. The press release mentions structures, without citing them, instrumentalised "

 by the forces of evil

".
