China responds to US accusations about Corona

The Chinese embassy in Washington accused the US intelligence services of "political manipulation" after a report in which Beijing was accused of withholding key information about the source of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

The embassy said in a statement that "the report of the American intelligence services reveals that the United States is determined to follow the wrong path of political manipulation," considering that "the intelligence services report is based on the premise that China is guilty, and this is only to make China a scapegoat."

This week, the CIA submitted this classified report to President Joe Biden.

Biden had requested the report from the intelligence services and gave them ninety days to redouble their efforts to uncover the origin of the epidemic.

According to a summary of the report published on Friday, intelligence concluded that “SARS-Cove-2,” the scientific name for the virus, was not developed as a “biological weapon” and “probably not genetically designed.”

But they are divided between the hypothesis that the first infection resulted from natural contact with an infected animal or from a laboratory accident.

"Critical information about the origins of the epidemic is in China. However, from the beginning, government officials in China have worked to prevent access to it by international investigators and global public health actors," the US president said in a statement.
