Xinhua News Agency, Shenyang, August 28 (Reporter Yu Yetong) As the school season is approaching, some children become unwilling to communicate with their families, lose their temper, do not want to go to school, and cry easily.

Zhao Fangquan, director of the Depression Treatment Center of Shenyang Mental Health Center, reminded that the current incidence of depression is increasing year by year, and the age of onset is also showing a younger age. Parents should not simply think that children are squeamish and blindly reprimand.

Xiaoying, a 13-year-old student at a key bilingual school in Shenyang, started to experience symptoms such as upset, headache, and loss of appetite two weeks ago. When she was in a bad mood, she would even scratch her wrists with sharp objects.

Through examination and consultation, the doctor found that Xiaoying, who is both excellent in character and learning, fell behind in the learning ranking after entering the fast class of junior high school. The increased pressure from parents and the outside world, coupled with high self-demand, led to her symptoms of anxiety and depression.

After fully understanding Xiaoying's symptoms and condition, Xiaoying actively cooperated with the doctor for treatment with the help of her family.

"Young people face great pressure for study and entering school, and they are also in the conflict of seeking psychological independence and dependence on the family in reality, especially after a relaxing vacation, the unsuitability of returning to school for the first time, the disharmony of interpersonal relationships, etc. It may induce depression in teenagers." Zhao Fangquan said.

According to reports, the core symptoms of depression are low mood, pessimism, and loss of interest. It also shows cognitive impairment symptoms such as memory loss, inattention, and sometimes physical symptoms such as sleep disturbance, loss of appetite, and headache.

Zhao Fangquan reminded that parents should treat their children's symptoms correctly.

"If you find that your child is depressed, do not delay and seek medical attention immediately. Parents should pay attention to the child's psychological and physical state in time, listen more, enlighten more, and communicate more with the child. Teenagers should also pay attention to self-adjustment. Relaxation is the best way to cope with stress. Ways, yoga, listening to music, meditation, etc. are all good choices for relaxation. In addition, learn to accept negative emotions, communicate more with others, and express emotions reasonably."
