No new covid cases in Norrbotten: "No need to throw yourself into the ditch anymore"

Today, Friday, an unusual covid update came from the Norrbotten Region:

The infection control doctor believes that this happened on a Sunday a few weeks ago.

But when it comes to everyday life, we have to go back to last summer.

- It has been a very long time and we have also taken a lot of samples during the week so it looks damn good, says Anders Nystedt.

Most cases come from resorts

At its worst, around 20 percent of all samples were positive.

During the week, they have been at 0.3 percent.

The covid cases that are reported now usually have connections to abroad or Stockholm and Gotland.

- It is easy to take something home and forget about the restrictions, says Anders Nystedt, infection control doctor.

"Can not relax too much"

Nystedt, however, wants to put a finger in the air and warn that we will have more cases during the autumn.

- We saw it last year at the end of September and it is strange if we do not see it now.

But it is difficult to see the same burden on healthcare if nothing happens to the mutations, says Anders Nystedt and adds that those who become seriously ill now, and even die, are those who have not been vaccinated.

So how do we interpret this with zero new cases, can one relax?

- No I do not think so. You can not relax too much, but you do not have to throw yourself into the ditch anymore, says infection control doctor Anders Nystedt.
