Iraqi media said, "3 Katyusha rockets fell on a US forces site at a border crossing between Iraq and Kuwait late Friday night."

An officer in the Basra police (south) told Anadolu Agency, "Unidentified persons fired 3 missiles from inside Iraqi territory at the military base at the Jarishan land crossing with Iraq" (Safwan from the Iraqi side).

The source - who asked not to be named because he is not authorized to speak to the media - added that two missiles fell in the vicinity of the military base, and the third crossed the base towards Kuwaiti territory, without knowing where it fell.

He pointed out that the information available to the Iraqi authorities indicates that there were no casualties.

So far, there has been no comment from the Kuwaiti authorities or the US forces regarding the incident.

For his part, a Kuwaiti security source confirmed that the situation on the Kuwaiti-Iraqi borders is stable, noting that the missiles fell inside Iraqi territory and did not target Kuwaiti territory.

The source added that there are continuous contacts with the Iraqi side about the development of the situation, stressing that the borders are safe and there is no cause for concern or fear, and that things are going safely and under close control and monitoring.

In recent months, unknown persons launched repeated attacks with missiles, booby-trapped drones and explosive devices targeting the US embassy and the international coalition forces led by Washington throughout Iraq.

Washington accuses Iraqi armed factions linked to Iran of being behind the attacks, as it has repeatedly threatened to target US forces if they do not leave the country.

The new attacks come despite Baghdad and Washington reaching an agreement on July 26 to withdraw US forces from Iraq by the end of this year.
