In the case of the controversial chats in the Frankfurt SEK, some of which, as has now become known, are deeply xenophobic, the Bund Deutscher Kriminalbeamter (BDK) demands an intensive investigation within the police.

As the regional chairman of the BDK, Dirk Peglow, announced, the contents are “neither to be interpreted as satire nor as misunderstood humor”; may not have any space ”.

In addition to the upcoming judicial processing, the BDK believes it is imperative that “the 'police base' is also informed as quickly as possible about the content of the messages exchanged,” said Peglow.

"This is the only way to counteract the threat of rumors that do not do justice to the matter." At the same time, however, the BDK rejects "any form of prejudice that anticipates a judicial review and does not differentiate the seriousness of the criminal and disciplinary violations in question" .

Staff representatives outside

According to Peglow, the commission of experts appointed by Interior Minister Peter Beuth (CDU) to restructure the SEK has produced "a comprehensive analysis of the existing organizational and management structure" of the Frankfurt SEK.

The undesirable developments that have now been identified, the correction of which has already begun, would "certainly still take some time".

However, both the BDK and the Police Union (GdP) criticized the fact that the restructuring of the special task force was carried out without involving the responsible staff representatives in the process.

It would have been desirable to involve the responsible staff councils in the work of the expert commission, according to Peglow.

The state chairman of the GdP, Jens Mohrherr, accuses Interior Minister Beuth that the involvement of the staff council, equal opportunities officer and representatives of the severely disabled was "undesirable".

The officials concerned and their families assessed the "political solo effort" as an "unsuitable attempt to use 'scoundrel methods' to divert attention from one's own political failures".

Without the involvement of the main staff council and the committees, nationwide structures would be dissolved and a new "operational committee" would emerge from the ground.

A police reorganization of this dimension could not be prescribed, it would have to grow in a broad participation process.

The GdP rejects the submitted plans and will "exhaust all means under staff representation law to force the interior minister to the negotiating table".
