“The epidemic is under control, we have record vaccination rates.

This is why, on September 10, we will be able to abandon the special rules that we had to introduce in the fight against Covid-19, ”Danish Minister of Health, Magnus Heunicke, announced on Friday in a press release.

Thanks to significant vaccination coverage - more than 70% of the population of the Scandinavian country, which has 5.8 million inhabitants, is fully vaccinated - the restrictions still in place in Denmark against Covid-19 will be lifted as of September 10, the disease is no longer considered "threatening to society".

From this deadline, the obligation to show a health pass in nightclubs, which reopen on September 1, and during major events will disappear.

It was already planned that this "coronapass" will no longer be requested in restaurants, sports centers and hairdressers from September 1.

"We are not out of the epidemic", however underlined the Minister of Health, assuring that the government "will not hesitate to act quickly if the pandemic threatens again the essential functions of the company".

In March 2020, Denmark was one of the first countries to establish the semi-containment regime, which subsequently inspired almost all European countries, with the closure of schools and businesses deemed non-essential.

After a first easing of the measures a few weeks later, he had again gradually tightened the screw from August 2020, regaining semi-containment at Christmas.

Since then, the country has gradually reopened, with the introduction in April of the coronavirus passport, the use of which is now limited.

On August 14, the wearing of the compulsory mask had disappeared from public transport, the only place where it was still required, a consequence of the relaxation of social distancing rules.
