“The police detained a citizen who was spreading false information on social networks about the explosions in the Zhambyl region,” TASS reports.
As specified, it turned out to be a 26-year-old resident of the city of Taraz.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, during the monitoring of the social network Instagram, law enforcement officers found a video in which an unknown man said that the explosions that occurred on the territory of the military unit could not be eliminated because of their power.
“This message is not true,” added the press service.
The department noted that a pre-trial investigation is underway under the article "Dissemination of knowingly false information using the media or telecommunications networks."
On the evening of August 26, a fire broke out at the warehouse of a military unit in the Zhambyl region, which led to the detonation of ammunition.
The explosion killed 12 people.
