August 27, 2021 “He sacrificed himself for our daughter” says Simonetta, wife of Enzo Galli, “He gave his life to save his family.

He knew he was infected, he was already sick, but he hadn't told me anything.

She was afraid they would take our daughter from us.

He confessed to me after leaving India ”.

At the funeral in San Lorenzo di Campi Bisenzio, family, friends and many people.

A palpable emotion to greet Enzo who has become “Campi Bisenzio's father”.

Her story and that of Simonetta begins in India where the couple went to adopt a baby girl. He had been stuck in India for ten days at the end of April. At the time of boarding to return to Italy, his wife had tested positive for Covid and for this reason the whole family was stuck in the Asian country. They had managed to return to Italy after a week with the child on a medical flight: the repatriation was made possible by donations for 130,000 euros from all over Italy, necessary to set up the flight. Upon his return, Enzo Galli also tested positive.

Both, husband and wife, had been hospitalized on 9 May in Careggi while the child went to Meyer for quarantine. Enzo Galli then had been hospitalized in the sub-intensive.
