From 1 July, those who have been vaccinated against covid-19 in Sweden can order a digital vaccination certificate.

The aim is to facilitate travel within the EU, but not everyone has that opportunity.

French citizen

SVT Nyheter has reported on Noémie Foullon, who has lived in Sweden for just over a year and who does not have a Swedish social security number.

With the help of a so-called coordination number, which replaces the social security number in contacts with authorities, she is now fully vaccinated.

Soon she will go back to France to start her university studies but has not managed to order a covid certificate.

On Thursday, the government announced that it will be easier for people in her situation.

To be investigated quickly

To date, more than three million covid certificates have been downloaded.

We are now commissioning the E-health authority to investigate how vaccinated people who for various reasons cannot end up in the national vaccination register should be able to obtain a covid certificate, says Minister of Social Affairs Lena Hallengren in a press release.

The issue must be investigated quickly and the results reported to the Ministry of Social Affairs no later than 1 October.

The manual handling will also help Swedes who have been vaccinated in third countries but who have moved back to Sweden.
