Unfortunately, a new fatal accident at work occurred in a fish farming plant in Piombino, in the province of Livorno. A 39-year-old diver originally from Palermo but resident in Donoratico died while he was working inside the facility, two miles from the coast of the Gulf of Follonica.
According to an initial reconstruction of the accident, the diver was hit in the head by a propeller from a boat. When the man was transported ashore, there was nothing more for him to do and the rescue vehicles waiting for him on the shore were of no use. The Port Authority is trying to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the accident to understand if there are any responsibilities.
