Anders Åkesson is critical of the fact that the government is now breaking off part of the overall application for future storage of nuclear fuel to only include Oskarshamn and interim storage.

- I interpret it as the government did not have the strength to make a joint decision on interim storage and final repository.

It is a betrayal of people who for several years put in work to take national responsibility, says Anders Åkesson (C) and continues:

- That the government is now running over one of the municipalities that has taken the greatest responsibility for the nuclear waste issue in modern times is a democratic meltdown.

Will be submitted during the day

Åkesson wants the constitutional committee to examine the government's handling of the issue.

- The government and the Green Party obviously do not have the courage and strength required to sit in a government and make tough but necessary decisions.

Anders Åkesson's KU application will be submitted on Thursday.

Several parties critical of the decision

The Liberals also choose to report Minister of the Environment and Climate Per Bolund (MP) to the Constitution Committee.

Pär-Gustav Johansson (M), vice chairman of the Regional Development Committee and opposition councilor in Kalmar County, is also critical of the decision.

- The consequence for Oskarshamn is that the intermediate storage is at risk of being converted into a final repository. It is a catastrophic decision after having had as many years as possible to make an overall decision, says Per-Gustav Johansson (M) to SVT Nyheter.
