The identity of the alleged killer of eight-year-old Nastya Muravyova in Tyumen has been revealed.

The suspect detained the day before, 40-year-old Vitaly Berezhnoy, has already confessed.

According to the investigation, on June 30, a man, being in a state of alcohol and drug intoxication, met the child on the staircase of his house.

He lured the girl into his apartment, tied her up with scotch tape, and then raped and strangled her.

Investigators believe that for some time after the murder, the attacker kept Nastya's body in the refrigerator.

Berezhnaya decided to get rid of the body of the murdered girl in mid-August - the man took it out of the house in a box of household appliances that he took at work.

On August 17, the man took the box, which he wrapped in bags and tape, to the shore of Lake Obrochnoye, 2.5 km from Nastya's house.

It was on the box that the law enforcement officers went to Berezhny.

As the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Irina Volk told reporters, the investigators managed to find out that the box of household appliances in which Nastya was found had previously been transferred to a nearby furniture shop for installation in a kitchen set.

Detention and criminal case

On August 25, Vitaly Berezhny was detained, and his apartment was searched.

Among other things, as reported by the media, a wire similar to the one with which Nastya was connected was found at the suspect's home.

DNA samples were also taken from the man.

A criminal case was initiated against the detainee under clauses "c" and "k" part 2 of Art.

105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder of a minor, coupled with rape") is an article according to which Berezhny may face punishment up to life imprisonment.

On the day of his arrest, an angry crowd gathered at the place where the investigative actions were carried out, demanding that the attacker be handed over to them.

Meanwhile, as stated by the official representative of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Svetlana Petrenko, an investigation was launched against the head of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee for the Tyumen Region due to the ineffective investigation of the case of the disappearance of Nastya Muravyova.

Recall that the eight-year-old girl was searched for by volunteers of search brigades and law enforcement agencies for a month and a half.

For information on the whereabouts of the girls, they promised a reward of 1 million rubles.

After a criminal case of murder was opened on the fact of the child's disappearance, the chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, Alexander Bastrykin, sent him for investigation to the central office of the Investigative Committee.

According to media reports, the best employees were involved in the search for the criminal, in particular, Evgeny Karchevsky, known as the best specialist in catching maniacs in Russia.

Sociable furniture maker

After the detention of Vitaly Berezhny, information appeared in the Tyumen media that the alleged killer of Nastya Muravyova was familiar with the girl's family and even communicated with her parents.

Berezhnoy lived in a house next to the Muravyovs: their apartment was located at 38 Sudostoiteley Street, while the attacker, according to media reports, rented an apartment in 40.

It was there that little Nastya sometimes went to get free Wi-Fi, and it was there that she went on the day of her disappearance on June 30.

Vitaly Berezhnoy worked as a furniture assembler and had no previous convictions.

His colleague Konstantin told RT that Berezhnoy was not officially employed, but took individual orders.

“He worked for me from time to time.

Not always.

He is a furniture assembler, and they usually work for several people.

Today he places my order, a week later he places an order for another.

He has been working since November last year, periodically, "the interlocutor of RT explained.

The man noted that Berezhnoy usually worked alone, and if he needed help in fulfilling a complex order, he negotiated this with other workers - "he found a common language, was sociable."

“I still can't believe that it is him.

It is hard to imagine.

Even though I didn’t know him for a long time, ”says Konstantin.

- He would talk to you during a smoke break, he was generally sociable.

I won't say anything about friendship.

I have not seen close friendship with anyone.

It was easy to get into trust ”.

Berezhny's colleague noted that he did not notice a strong addiction to alcohol, although he could drink a couple of bottles of beer after work.

Konstantin was present at one of these gatherings - according to him, Vitaly was there and no oddities were noticed behind him.

“There was an event, a small gathering. All those who drank, no one precipitated. We sat and parted. [Berezhnoy] I kept myself in control, ”recalls Konstantin.
