The journalist Anders Yngve Pers will become a work of art in Västerås

The motion was submitted by municipal councilor Jesper Brandberg (L) after a leader in Dagens Nyheter in the summer of 2020.

There, the foreign correspondent and historian Nathan Shachar highlighted Anders Yngve Per's journalistic courage and work during the Second World War and the fact that there was no statue of him in Västerås.

- Both initiators Shachar and Anders Yngve's children have expressed that they want to participate in the project and my hope is that the three will be able to come to a compromise, says Jesper Brandberg (L) to SVT Nyheter Västmanland.

Anders Yngve Pers (1902-1985) and his father chose, despite pressure from the family, to print and reveal forbidden information and news while German propaganda was spreading in Sweden.

Whether it will be an image, a classic statue or a modern work in memory of the VLT publicist who was also a populist politician in the then county council assembly, remains to be seen.
