It is in connection with longer holidays, such as the Christmas or summer holidays, that most divorce applications are sent to Sweden's district courts.

This is also when Charlotte Ljung, founder of the digital divorce platform Endbright, has the most to do.

- It is a big life crisis for most people who go through a divorce or separation.

Where do you start?

What does it cost?

How do you get your finances together afterwards?

There is a lot to get acquainted with, she says.

More divorces, fewer marriages

The number of divorces has varied during the 2000s, but the trend has been rising in recent years.

Since 2017, divorces have increased by more than 1,000, while marriages have decreased by almost 20,000, reports Ekot.

The development has led to the emergence of a new industry.

People who are considering divorce, or who are already in divorce, can now buy the job of divorce planner and thereby get help from, among others, relationship experts, brokers, lawyers and career coaches.

- I think we are looking for a different type of help as our world is digitized.

Since then, divorce and separation are a very common phenomenon today.

More than half of those who marry divorce.

We see this statistic increase both nationally and internationally.

We live in a different type of world that is more focused on the individual than before, says Charlotte Ljung.

Above all, money laundering

The majority of her clients are women in their 40s, but the number of men of the same age has also increased.

- Overall, it can be said that many women seek a type of comprehensive help where they "hold hands" throughout the separation process, while many men want more concrete services, not infrequently in law or finance.

Precisely finances, but also custody issues, are the most common reasons for quarrels in divorce, according to Charlotte Ljung, who refers to the fact that "many people become afraid and act in affection."

Money and children are important to most people, albeit in different ways, and therefore people like to stick to these two, she explains.

- Children stand for joy and great love and money stands for security and stability.

The future often feels uncertain in a divorce and one seeks to hold on and have control over things that are tangible, as opposed to emotions that are more difficult to touch.
