France retained its title in the team relay event at the opening of the Mountain Bike Worlds on Wednesday in the Val di Sole (northern Italy).
Mathis Azzaro, Adrien Boichis, Lena Gerault, Tatiana Tournut, Line Burquier and Jordan Sarrou beat the United States and Germany in this event which combines male and female representatives of different age categories (two juniors, two hopes, two elite).
Azzaro, Gerault and Sarrou were already part of the winning team last year in Leogang (Austria).
The individual cross-country events in the elite category are scheduled for Saturday.
Team relay classification:
1. France 1 h 25:51.
2. United States at 48.
3. Germany 49.
4. Italy 1:39.
5. Switzerland 2:04.
