The event from the Russian side was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Agriculture, Rosselkhoznadzor, Rosrybolovstvo, Rospatent, Rosstandart and Russian Railways, the message says.

It is noted that "the key topic of the meeting was the issue of eliminating trade restrictions that arose against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic."

"In particular, they discussed in detail the difficulties with the export of Russian agricultural products to China, water industry, ensuring uninterrupted supplies of goods through road and rail checkpoints, as well as issues of protecting the interests and rights of Russian companies operating in China," the ministry said.

The ministry said that "with regard to the issue of consumer tax collection on synthetic sapphires imported from Russia, which is sensitive for the Russian side, the Chinese side confirmed that the State Council of the PRC is preparing a normative legal act to resolve this problem."

"Representatives of Russia and China agreed to continue contacts to remove the remaining barriers and restrictions in the trade, economic and investment spheres," added the Ministry of Economic Development.

Earlier it was reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping in a telephone conversation expressed their readiness to step up efforts in the fight against the threats of terrorism and drug trafficking from Afghanistan.
