• The summer university of social movements opened this Wednesday in Nantes.

  • Highlight of the day, the presentation of a “breakthrough plan” by the fifteen organizations of the “Never again” collective.

The unions and associations which are at the origin of it bluntly speak of "rupture" in view of "the scale of the transformations that need to be carried out to make the world a better place".

On the occasion of the summer university of social movements, which brings together around 400 organizations and 2,000 activists in Nantes since Wednesday, a plan of 36 proposals to weigh in the public debate was unveiled by the collective "Never again. ".

"The time is not any more to get out of the crisis but to break frankly with all that nourished it: the unbridled capitalism which destroys the jobs and the natural resources (...)", writes the collective, which brings together about twenty union and environmental organizations such as the CGT, Solidaires, Attac, Greenpeace or France nature environment.

Win in the 2022 debate

Among these proposals "sometimes utopian but all achievable" include for example the reduction of working time to 32 hours, the lifting of patents on Covid vaccines, the return of the ISF including the carbon impact, but also more aspirations. broad as the increase in wages, a plan for the public hospital or the regulation of banking activities. “The issue of food is a full and complete part of our plan,” says a member of the collective. This question embodies a real problem, both social and ecological. "

To carry these two values, at the heart of its project, “Never again” intends to rely on its “local collectives” but also to impose itself in the debate on the occasion of the presidential election.

"We will not rate each candidate according to his program but we will challenge them to find out at what level of rupture they are, and how they intend to carry our proposals", specifies Benoît Teste, secretary general of the FSU.

The organizations that make up the “Never again” collective, already on the initiative of a “crisis exit plan” last year, claim a total of “several hundred thousand” members and supporters.
